Provided is a polymerizable UV- absorbing colorant monomer which exhibits excellent stability under alkaline conditions and which is for a polymer that is useful as an intraocular lens material. A compound represented by general formula (1) is used as a polymerizable UV absorbing colorant monomer for a polymer for an intraocular lens material.
