To provide a hydrogen gas generating apparatus capable of quickly generating hydrogen gas while forming a hydrogen generating unit housing a hydrogen generating agent in its case, and reliably exerting a check function additionally provided in the case so as to prevent a metallic ion from flowing out to drinking water.SOLUTION: A hydrogen gas generating space for housing a hydrogen generating agent is formed in a tightly closed cylindrical case which can be input into a PET bottle. A gas filling space blocked from the hydrogen gas generating space is formed at the ends of the hydrogen gas generating space. A small hole for discharging the gas is bored at the one end wall of the gas filling space.
