The outer case (31) is provided with an opening (71) which is arranged between the wall part (66) and the wall part (67), and through which the substrate (51) is exposed. The distance between the wall part (66) and the wall part (67) is larger at the base portion side than at the front end portion side of the wall part (66) and the wall part (67), which protrude from the outer case (31). Due to this configuration, there can be provided an ion generator which enables easy cleaning of a discharge electrode, while preventing a user from touching the front end portion of the discharge electrode.
