PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing a lactic acid bacteria fermentation of Sipjeondaebotang(kind of oriental medicine) is provided to prevent or treat brain diseases. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating brain diseases contains a lactic acid bacteria fermentation of Sipjeondaebotang as an active ingredient. The fermentation is prepared by inoculating lactic acid bacteria into Sipjeondaebotang and fermenting at 35-45 deg. C under an anaerobic atmosphere for 1-3 days. The lactic acid bacteria include Lactobacillus, Streptococcus, Bifidobacterium, Lactococcus, Pediococcus, or Leuconostoc. The composition additionally contains a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, an excipient, or a diluent.
