PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice molding mechanism capable of improving a puffy feeling of rice ball, and reducing a cooling load of a cooling device.SOLUTION: A rice molding mechanism 10 comprises: a holding part 20 for holding rice mounted on a molding face from a side part and a pressing part 30 for pressing the rice held by the holding part 20 from an upper side. A plane shape of a holding space part 24 for holding the rice on the holding part 20 is formed into a plane shape, in which both principle faces of the rice ball become a shape with line symmetry in which one side part of the rice ball is reference, and principle faces mutually are connected on one side part.
