Apparatus and methods for creating an inhalable medium are disclosed. The apparatus includes a container for holding the liquid, a heater for volatilizing the liquid held in the container to create a flow of at least one of vapor and aerosol in use, and a receptacle for receiving the material. The receptacle is positioned adjacent to the heater so that, in use, the material contained in the receptacle is heated by the heater.
