PURPOSE: An eye-ground image taking apparatus having preview image save and display functions is provided to automatically save a preview image of an eye-ground image and to display the preview image in a monitor without a separate operation. CONSTITUTION: An external digital camera(40) takes a photograph of a color image. The external digital camera outputs a preview image of the color image to a video signal through a video port. The preview image is created by an image preview function. A controller(50) receives the video signal outputted from the video port. The controller automatically detects the preview image when the preview image is inputted, and stores the preview image in a memory unit(60).
