The present invention relates to Pseudomonas putida strain CECT8538 and variants thereof and the use of the strain as an insecticide in the control of plant diseases caused by fungi and bacteria. A further aspect of the invention relates to a method of making an insecticidal composition comprising the above strain. Finally, the present invention relates to plants and/or their seeds or the substrates used to grow said plants.
