PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope which shows an excellent portability by making illuminating light output from a light emitting element enter a proximal end surface of a light guide fiber efficiently.
SOLUTION: The endoscope 1 is equipped with an LED unit 40 which is provided in an operational portion 3 adjacently provided on the proximal end of an insertion portion 2 and has an illuminating part 41 outputting illuminating light, a light guide 34 which is provided in the insertion portion 2 and guides the illuminating light, output from the illuminating unit 40 to the proximal end surface, to the distal end surface, an adjustment screw 9b which is provided in the operational portion 3 and adjusts the position of a central axis of the light guide 34 relative to an optical axis of the illuminating part 41 by moving the position of the proximal end part of the light guide 34, a biasing screw member 9d which biases the distal end surface of the illuminating part 41 to the proximal end surface side of the light guide 34 to bring the output surface side of the illuminating part 41 into close contact with the proximal end of the light guide 34, and a fixing screw member 9c which fixes the biased illuminating part 41 to the proximal end surface of the light guide 34.
