A synergistic herbicidal composition is provided, the composition comprising a herbicidally effective amount of (A) flufenacet and (B) florasulam. A method of controlling plant growth at a locus comprises applying to the locus herbicidally effective amounts of both flufenacet and florasulam. The biological examples show the protection of barley, wheat, sunflower and maize plants from weeds including blackgrass, meadow grass, silky bent grass, cleaver, chickweed, mayweed, poppy, charlock and volunteer oilseed rape.
