The present invention relates to an automated defibrillator and a method for controlling the same. The automated defibrillator comprises: an automated defibrillator function treating module which provides functions of an automated defibrillator for applying an electric shock to a patient； a door phone function treating module which provides functions of a door phone； a mode conversion unit in which a door phone mode or an emergency mode is selected； a memory in which a user video and a guidance video are saved, wherein the guidance video provides guidance on a method for using the automated defibrillator； and a control unit which operates in the door phone mode when initially operated so as to control the functions of the door phone through the door phone function treating module and play the user video saved in the memory according to the selection of a user, operates in the emergency mode when the emergency mode is selected through the mode conversion unit so as to control the functions of the automated defibrillator through the automated defibrillator function treating module and play the guidance video saved in the memory. Accordingly, the automated defibrillator provides the functions of the door phone so as to be used while embedded in a wall surface under normal circumstances. When an emergency occurs, a body of the automated defibrillator is separated from a housing embedded in the wall surface so that the functions of the automated defibrillator can be used.
