A cosmetic system comprising, in combination: (a) a cosmetic applicator comprising a substantially longitudinal stem having a major axis A and a plurality of protrusions extending therefrom, wherein at least two adjacent protrusions are spaced from one another at a distance R at the base of the stem (b) a cosmetic composition comprising primary particles that are at least about 5 microns in equivalent diameter and (c) a dermatologically acceptable carrier.
