An automated tattooing system includes a robotic arm including an end effector, an inking head fixed to an end effector of the robotic arm, an imaging device, a user interface and a computing device. The computing device configured to control a movement path of the robotic arm based on image data provided by the imaging device and based on the user input. The inking head controllably dispenses a pigment to tattoo a body part. The imaging device is displaced from the robotic arm, is stationary and provides three dimensional imaging.
