An apparatus for analyzing respiration is disclosed. The apparatus includes a photo-plethysmography sensing part for receiving a pulse wave of a user, removing noise, extracting a desired band signal, and digitally converting the signal； and an abnormal breathing recognition part which extracts a respiration rate signal from an optical pulse wave signal sensed by the photo-plethysmography sensing unit, calculates a current respiration rate characteristic value of the user, and compares the value with a respiration rate characteristic reference value. According to the apparatus for analyzing respiration of the present invention, sleep apnea syndrome can be effectively recognized.사용자의 맥파를 수신하여 노이즈를 제거하고 필요한 대역의 신호를 추출하여 디지털 변환하는 광용적맥파 센싱부 및 상기 광용적맥파 센싱부가 센싱한 광용적맥파 신호로부터 호흡률 신호를 추출하고, 현재 사용자의 호흡률 특징값을 산출하여 호흡률 특징 기준치와 비교하여, 이상 호흡을 감지하는 이상호흡 인지부를 포함한 호흡 분석 장치가 개시된다. 본 발명의 호흡 분석 장치에 따르면 수면시 무호흡증을 효과적으로 인지할 수 있다.
