PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balloon catheter being a rapid exchange type balloon catheter capable of reducing the generation of the positional shift of a first balloon when the first balloon is expanded.SOLUTION: The balloon catheter 11 is equipped with a base part shaft 30 and a leading end shaft 50 provided with the first expansible and contractible balloon 40. The leading end shaft is provided with a guide wire lumen 60 equipped with a leading end opening 61 opened on the leading end side of the first balloon and a base end opening 62 opened on the base end side of the first balloon.
