To provide toilet sand capable of showing high water repellent function without applying coating thereto at all, while adopting vegetable fibers of an inflammable material as a raw material.SOLUTION: Following means is adopted. A mixture formed by mixing uniformly 90-97 wt% vegetable fibers which are amorphous pieces having a moisture content of 20-30% with 3-10 wt% starches is inputted into a disk pelleter, and the mixture is compressed and extruded by roller rotation on a dice of the disk pelleter to be thereby granulated into a pellet shape, and the granulated pellet is molded by being heated at a prescribed temperature and dried in a dryer so as to have a bulk specific gravity of 0.5-0.8 g/cm3 and a moisture content of 10-12%.SELECTED DRAWING: None【課題】可燃性材料の植物繊維を原材料として採用しつつ何らコーティングすること無しに高い撥水機能を発揮し得るトイレ砂を提供する。【解決手段】無定形片であって含水率２０～３０％の植物繊維９０～９７重量％と澱粉類３～１０重量％とを均一に混合して成る混合物をディスクペレッターに投入し、該ディスクペレッターにおけるダイス上のローラ回転により該混合物を圧縮して押し出すことでペレット状に造粒し、造粒されたペレットを乾燥機により所定温度で加熱及び乾燥して嵩比重０．５～０．８ｇ／ｃｍ３及び含水率１０～１２％に成形して成る手段を採る。【選択図】なし
