A drive mechanism for a drug delivery device comprising: a lead screw (5) and a lead screw nut (7) aligned along an axis (4) defining an axial direction and an opposite axial direction, a screw thread (6), and at least one additional screw thread (16) of the lead screw (5), while the screw thread (6) and the additional screw thread (16) have the same pitch and are intertwined, as well as the drive element (19) of the screw nut (7) in this case, the drive element (19) is engaged with the screw screw thread (6) and an additional screw thread (16) and for performing the dispensing operation provides screw movement of the lead screw (5) relative to the lead screw nut (7) in at least the axial direction. 2.
