The present invention relates to a method for assembling a drug delivery device comprising the steps: providing a housing (10, 20, 150) with at least two housing parts, a dose setting and dispensing mechanism comprising at least a dose setting member (70), a trigger (40), a release member (110) and a drum (130), a plunger (122) and a strained pressure spring (140); mounting a cartridge (30) with a bung (31 ), the dose setting and dispensing mechanism, the plunger (122) and the spring (140) within the housing (10, 20, 150) such that the spring (140) biases the plunger (122) in a dispensing direction and that the drum (130) and/or the release member (110) is attached to the plunger (122); attaching a tool (170) with torque measurement capability to the drum (130) or the release member (110) of the dose setting and dispensing mechanism in a state where at least one housing part is detached from the further housing part(s); setting a dose by rotating the dose setting member (70) in a first direction, activating the trigger (40) and monitoring the torque applied to the drum (130) or the release member (110); releasing the trigger (40) upon detection of a predetermined change in the torque measured by the tool (170); and releasing the tool (170) from the drum (130) or the release member (110) and closing the housing (10, 20, 150) by attaching the at least one housing part to the further housing part(s).
