The invention includes a preserved ophthalmic preparation comprising povidone-iodine (PVP-I) at a concentrationsufficient to preserve the ophthalmic preparation, and at least one memberselected from the group consisting of a steroidalanti-inflammatory compound, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory compound, anantibacterial compound, an anti-allergy compound,and an anti-glaucoma compound. The invention also includes adding PVP-I to anophthalmic composition in order to preserve thecomposition, wherein the PVP-I is added at a concentration sufficient topreserve the composition.
