A method for producing an aqueous chlorine dioxide solution according to the present invention comprises: a first step for preparing a first aqueous solution that contains chlorine dioxide; a second step for preparing an intermediate aqueous solution having a pH of from 4.0 to 7.5 (inclusive) by mixing the first aqueous solution with a second aqueous solution that contains a potassium salt of a weak acid having a pKa of 2.5 or more; and a third step for preparing an aqueous chlorine dioxide solution having a pH of from 4.0 to 7.5 (inclusive) by mixing the intermediate aqueous solution with a third aqueous solution that contains chlorite, or alternatively by mixing the intermediate aqueous solution with the third aqueous solution and subsequently adding the second aqueous solution thereto.
