A mouth guard having a "C" shape is provided with a forward portion and a pair of rearwardly extending arms. The mouth guard includes a body that provides flanges as well as a base. Rear shields are embedded in the base portions of the arms, and the shields are preferably of a corrugated configuration so as to have ridges separated by troughs.
