A surgical instrument comprising: a head assembly (16) an anvil assembly (22) movable relative to the head assembly (16) an approximation knob (30) operatively coupled with the anvil assembly (22) to move the anvil assembly relative (22) to the head assembly and a torque limiting mechanism including: a driven member (78) operatively coupled with the anvil assembly (22), the driven member (78) including a driven surface (80) a driving member (82) operatively coupled with the approximation knob (30), the driving member (82) including a driving surface (84) engageable with the driven surface (80) of the driven member (78), wherein the driving surface (84) of the driving member (82) is configured to slip relative to the driven surface (80) of the driven member (78) at a predetermined engagement pressure and a torque control (42) configured to adjust the predetermined engagement pressure.
