The present invention discloses a pharmaceutical compositioncomprising Polygonum multiflorum Thunb, which comprises Polygonummultiflorum Thunb, Fructus Crataegi, Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge and RadixNotoginseng. If needed, the pharmaceutical composition may comprise thepharmaceutically acceptable carriers. The weight ratio of Polygonummultiflorum Thunb, Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, Fructus Crataegi and RadixNotoginseng in the present composition is as follows: 10 to 20 parts ofPolygonum multiflorum Thunb, 5 to 15 parts of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, 10 to20 parts of Fructus Crataegi and 1 to 10 parts of Radix Notoginseng. Also, thepresent invention discloses the methods for preparing the composition,including directly pulverizing the medicines into powder to produce thecomposition or preparing the medicines into the extracts and then make theextracts into drugs. The composition of the present invention has an effectof lowering blood lipid, and therefore can be used in preparation of drugsfor treatment and/or prevention of hyperlipidemia. The present inventionalso discloses a method to treat and/or prevent hyperlipidemia.
