PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray imaging apparatus which prevents collision of a subject and an X-ray detecting section during imaging even when the apparatus is miniaturized or even when an abnormality is generated in control of a rotation axis.SOLUTION: The X-ray imaging apparatus includes a rotation arm 4 having an X-ray irradiation section 3 and X-ray detection section 2 opposing with each other and an arm driving section 5 hanging the rotation arm 4. The X-ray imaging apparatus carries out imaging by rotating the X-ray irradiation section 3 and the X-ray detection section 2 around a subject O. The arm driving section 5 includes a rotary driving mechanism 14 moving horizontally, a cover 12 arranged around the rotary driving mechanism, and the rotation axis 15 that passes through an opening 16 formed in a part of the cover 12 to connect the rotary driving mechanism 14 with the rotation arm 4 and transmits the horizontal movement of the rotary driving mechanism 14 to the rotation arm 4.
