Disclosed is the use of a long-acting Factor ix (FIX) polypeptide comprising FIX and a FcRn binding partner (FcRn BP) in the manufacture of a medicament for controlling or preventing bleeding or bleeding episodes in a human subject or in a human patient population in need thereof, wherein the medicament is formulated for administration of multiple doses at a dosing interval, wherein each dose comprises about 20 IU/kg to about 100IU/kg of the long-acting FIX polypeptide, and wherein the dosing interval between two doses is about once weekly or longer. Further disclosed is the use a long-acting Factor ix (FIX) polypeptide comprising FIX and a FcRn binding partner (FcRn BP) in the manufacture of a medicament for surgical prophylaxis, peri-operative management or treatment for surgery, wherein the medicament is formulated to be administered to a subject in need thereof in a dose of about 50 IU/kg to about 100 IU/kg at a dosing interval of about 24 hours to about 48 hours.
