Disclosed is a dihydro and tetrahydro oxazolopyrimidinones compound of formula (I) wherein the substituents are as disclosed in the description. Examples of compounds of formula (I) include: 2-{ 4-isopropyl-phenoxymethyl)-2,3-dihydro-oxazoIo[3,2-a]pyrimidin-7-one 2-{ 3-tert-butyl-phenoxymethyl)-2,3-dihydro-oxazolo[3,2-a ]pyrimidin-7-one and 2-[ 4-(1-methyl-l-phenyl-ethyl)-phenoxymethyl]-2,3-dihydro-oxazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidin-7 -one. Also disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of formula (I) and the use of a compound of formula (I) for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition for modulating one or more metabotropic glutamate receptor functions for treating neurological or psychiatric disorders for treating anxiety, migraine, schizophrenia, epilepsy and pain.
