The medical device may include an electrically operable bendable portion at the distal end, electrodes dispensed about the polymer electrolyte layer, and electrical conduits coupled to the electrodes, which may be provided by the polymer electrolyte layer, The polymer electrolyte layer is asymmetrically deformed in response to an electrical signal through one or more conduits. The present disclosure further includes a controller for applying electrical signals to move the device into and out of the body lumens and to steer the device.
