An independent claim is also included for a pharmaceutical preparation comprising a topical formulation comprising 6-8 wt.% ibuprofen and 2-15 wt.% at least one penetration enhancer. The ability of ibuprofen gel to reduce the severity of the lesions was tested in actinic keratosis patients using investigator global improvement index (measured with index scale of -2 (significant worsening) to 4 (complete healing)). The results showed that ibuprofen gel (10%) exhibited index scale value of 3.8 (after 90 days of treatment) compared to control group (diclofenac administered) which showed index scale value of 2.4.
