PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional agent which consists of an ingredient separated from a plant and has a Maillard reaction inhibition function or an antioxidative function.SOLUTION: Taking an ingredient distilled in dry-distilling a solid plant raw material in a state of a low moisture content at low temperatures and reduced pressure by using a dry distillation apparatus equipped with a pressure reduction mechanism as the low-temperature reduced-pressure dry distillation fraction (D) and the solid residue remaining in the dry distillation apparatus after the low-temperature reduced-pressure dry distillation operation as low-temperature reduced-pressure dry distillation residue (R), a functional agent having a Maillard reaction inhibition function or an antioxidative function contains the low-temperature reduced-pressure dry distillation residue (R) or a solvent extract (E) from the low-temperature reduced-pressure dry distillation residue (R) as an active ingredient.【課題】植物から分離取得した成分からなる「メイラード反応抑制機能または／および抗酸化機能を有する機能剤」を提供することを目的とするものである。【解決手段】減圧機構を備えた乾留装置を用いて低水分率の状態にある固体状の植物原料を低温かつ減圧条件下に乾留したときに留出する成分を「低温減圧乾留留出分（Ｄ）」としかつその低温減圧乾留操作後にその乾留装置内に残る固体状の残渣を「低温減圧乾留残渣（Ｒ）」と称するとき、前記の「低温減圧乾留残渣（Ｒ）」またはその「低温減圧乾留残渣（Ｒ）からの溶媒による抽出物（Ｅ）」を有効成分とするメイラード反応抑制機能または抗酸化機能を有する機能剤である。【選択図】なし
