A milk protein fraction having following properties (1) to (4) is excellent in bone resorption inhibitory effect, and is useful for preventing or treating bone diseases: (1) the milk protein fraction is derived from milk； (2) the milk protein fraction is a fraction containing a protein having a molecular weight of 12,000 to 16,000 Daltons； (3) the milk protein fraction has a basic amino acid content of 18 to 20 wt% in the constitutional amino acid composition, and the ratio of the amount of a basic amino acid(s) to the amount of an acidic amino acid(s) is 0.7 to 0.9； and (4) the milk protein fraction has a bone resorption inhibitory effect.다음 (1) 내지 (4)의 특성을 갖는 유단백질 분획은 골흡수 억제 작용이 우수하고, 골질환의 예방 또는 치료에 유용하다:(1) 젖 유래인 것(2) 분자량 12,000∼16,000 달톤 범위의 단백질을 함유하는 분획인 것(3) 구성 아미노산 조성 내에 염기성 아미노산을 18∼20 중량% 함유하고, 또한, 염기성 아미노산/산성 아미노산 비가 0.7∼0.9의 범위인 것(4) 골흡수 억제 작용을 갖는 것.
