An external circulation-type hollow fiber membrane module (11) is provided with: a hollow fiber membrane bundle (110)； a case (112)； and a short-path prevention body (114) that blocks flowing of a to-be-treated liquid in a gap between the hollow fiber membrane bundle (110) and the case (112), wherein a first end (110a) of the hollow fiber membrane bundle (110) is fixed in the case (112), and the short-path prevention body (114) is provided to the downstream side of a first port (122) which is a liquid flow-in port in the case (112) so as to project from the inner surface of the case (112).
