The present invention relates to a bacteriocin named Bantilicilin, produced by Bacillus subtilis which is inhibitory against Gram positive bacteria. More particularly, the invention relates the Bacillus subtilis and its novel low molecular weight protein antibacterial agent derived therefrom with bacteriocin properties which limits the proliferation of a Staphylococcus genus including MRSA in food, medicine and agriculture as a constituent.
