Disclosed are methods for increasing the rate of tissue wound healing by administering a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of at least one cationic steroidal antimicrobial agent (CSA). Also disclosed herein is a method of promoting wound healing in a subject in need of such promotion comprising administration of a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of at least one CSA. In addition, disclosed herein are compounds and methods comprising at least one CSA or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for use in the treatment of tissue wounds.
