The present invention relates to an embodiment of an apparatus configured to be in fluid communication with an article. The apparatus includes an element configured to contact the article to form a variable compression interface between the element and the article. The device also includes a seal disposed on the element and the variable compression interface. The seal is formed to reduce the amount of undesired fluid leakage in the variable compression interface. An exemplary seal includes a filtration media configured to trap undesired particles that attempt to pass through a variable compression interface.
