The present disclosure relates to a process for preparation of 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea. 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1- dimethylurea is used as a herbicidal agent. In the present disclosure, 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea is prepared by reaction of 3,4-dichloroaniline, methyl haloformate, and dimethylamine by using simple, efficient, and economical process. The process of the present disclosure provides 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea with comparatively high yield and high purity.
