An apparatus and method for changing a subject's body mass composition by applying galvanic vestibular stimulation (GVS) to a subject using electrodes arranged to be in electrical contact with a scalp at a location corresponding to each of the left and right vestibular systems of a human subject to provide. The current source maintains a constant current throughout the subject's scalp by including a feedback loop that measures the resistance across the subject's scalp and regulates the voltage output.
