The present invention relates to a breeding method of insects having enhanced gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) content by using a feed composition for insects containing mono sodium glutamate (MSG), and to insects bred by the method, an extract of the insects, and a food composition containing the insects or the extract. The feed composition for insects containing MSG of the present invention has an effect of providing insects having enhanced GABA content in bodies thereof by breeding the insects using the feed composition for insects containing MSG. In addition, by containing the insects having enhanced GABA content or extract thereof, a food composition with high content of GABA can be provided.본 발명은 모노소듐 글루타메이트(MSG； Mono sodium glutamate)를 포함하는 곤충용 사료 조성물을 이용하여 가바(GABA； gamma aminobutyric acid, 이하 '가바'라 기재함) 함량이 증진된 곤충을 사육하는 방법과 그 사육방법으로 사육된 곤충, 상기 곤충의 추출물 및 그 곤충 또는 추출물을 함유하는 식품 조성물에 관한 것이다.본 발명의 MSG를 포함하는 곤충용 사료 조성물은 이를 이용하여 곤충을 사육함으로써 체내에 가바 함량이 증진된 곤충을 제공할 수 있는 효과가 있다. 또한, 본 발명은 상기 가바 함량이 증진된 곤충 또는 그의 추출물을 함유함으로써 가바 고함유 식품 조성물을 제공할 수 있는 효과가 있다.
