PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for introducing a nucleic acid, an enzyme, etc., on a wide range in high efficiency. SOLUTION: The composition for introducing an object substance contains a biocompatible composition containing (a) one or more object substances selected from a protein to be introduced, a carrier holding a nucleic acid or nucleic acid derivative to be introduced, the nucleic acid and the nucleic acid derivative and (b) one or more substances selected from a thickener, a gelling agent and a gel and having a retention property to hold the object substance on the skin. The gene transfer method comprises the application of the object substance introducing composition to the skin and the transfer of the nucleic acid or nucleic acid derivative containing the gene of the introducing object into a cell.
