The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating diseases related to stress including extracts of Valeriana fauriei as an active ingredient wherein the extract of Valeriana fauriei significantly decreases hormones like concentration of corticosterone in blood, beta endorphin and ACTH increasing according to stress while inhibiting gastric acid output, 3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenylethyleneglycol sulfate (MHPG-SO4) which is metabolic products of noradrenalin and is released from terminals on sympathetic nerve of a brain tissue as neurotransmitters, preventing damage to nerve cells and increasing the concentration of serotonin, thereby increasing resistance to diseases related to stress like depression and being widely used for manufacturing compositions for preventing or treating/improving diseases related to stress.본 발명은 쥐오줌풀 추출물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 스트레스성 질환 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 쥐오줌풀 추출물은 스트레스에 의해서 유의적으로 증가한다고 알려져 있는 호르몬인 혈중 코르티코스테론과 베타-엔돌핀, ACTH의 농도를 유의적으로 감소시키며, 위산 분비(gastric acid output)를 억제하고, 뇌조직의 교감신경 말단에서 신경전달물질로서 분비되는 노르아드레날린의 대사 산물인 MHPG-SO4(3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenylethyleneglycol sulfate), 위산 분비(gastric acid output)를 억제하고, 신경세포의 손상을 예방하고, 세로토닌(serotonin)의 농도를 증가시켜 우울증과 같은 스트레스성 질환에 대한 저항성을 향상시킬 수 있으므로, 스트레스성 질환의 예방 또는 치료/개선용 조성물로 널리 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
