PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus which specifies and detects a change in a biological state based on a fluctuation in a biological rhythm.SOLUTION: The present invention has a configuration which determines on the basis of a frequency gradient time series waveform, preferably a frequency gradient time series waveform obtained using a zero crossing point, whether or not a function adjustment signal that has a frequency below the changeover frequency of a cardiocirculatory fluctuation characteristic continues at least for a predetermined time. A fluctuation in the circadian clock, i.e., the biological rhythm, is clearly reflected in a long-period frequency component (function adjustment signal). In particular, the fluctuation has a strong effect on a frequency gradient time series waveform obtained using a zero crossing point.
