PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in a conventional endoscope device that the operatability of an insert portion by an operator is impaired by concern that the insert portion is moved by unexpected external force for the operator when keeping the holding condition keeping the insert portion as it is without the operator moving forward and rearward, turning, moving the insert portion.
SOLUTION: A device 1 for holding an insert portion has a device body 30 holding the insert portion 10 and controlling the insert quantity (for example advancing and retracting quantity or twisting quantity) of the insert portion 10 and a control unit 50 controlling the device body 30 when an operator 2 inserts the insert portion 10 advanced or retracted (inserted or withdrawn) into the lumen of a patient 3 as a subject or twists the same wherein the action of inserting, withdrawing, twisting of the insert portion 10 can be facilitated, and the insert portion can be prevented from moving with the unexpected external force by changing over the holding condition and the nonholding condition to the insert portion when the operator inserts, withdraws, and twists the insert portion.
