The present invention relates a composition comprising Schizandra chinensis Baill, Coptis chinensis, Psidium guajava L. leaves and Morus alba L. leaves. The composition is useful in regulating blood sugar and has the activity of inhibiting α -glucosidase, dipeptidyl peptidase (DPP-4) and the formation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs). The present invention also discloses a method for preparing the composition comprising extracting Schizandra chinensis Baill, Coptis chinensis, Psidium guajava L. leaves and Morus alba L. leaves with sutible solvents, drying the extracts and mixing the dried extracts and further comprising the forming the resulting mixture into suitable to dosage forms.本發明提供一種調節血糖中草藥組成物,包括五味子(Schizandra chinensis Baill.)、黃連(Coptis chinensis)、番石榴葉(Psidium guajava L.leaves)與桑葉(Morus alba L.leaves)做為調節血糖中草藥組成物。本發明之中草藥組成物具有抑制α-糖苷酶(α-glucosidase)、抑制二肽基胜肽酶(Dipeptidyl Peptidase,DPP-4)與抑制糖化終極產物(advanced glycation end products,AGE)形成等作用,可作為調節血糖之用。本發明另包含此中草藥組成物的製備方法,以適宜的溶劑萃取五味子、黃連、番石榴葉和桑葉,將所得萃取物乾燥再混合,將所得混合物製備成適當之劑型。
