A method for controlling a separatable bed (1) includes a plurality of operation steps as combining operation or separating operation. While an operating switch (8) is depressed, at least one of the plurality of operation steps is performed. After one of the operation steps is completed, the one of the operation steps does not moves on to a next one of the operation steps even when the operating switch (8) is depressed. When the depressed operating switch (8) is released and thereafter the operating switch (8) is depressed again, the one of the operation steps moves on to the next one of the operation steps.
