An artificial knee joint comprises a femoral component a tibial plate slidably receive the femoral component. The femoral component includes medial and lateral condyles, an opening and an elliptical spherical sliding portion are formed therebetween. The elliptical spherical sliding portion couples posterior ends of the medial and lateral condyles, and slides with respect to the tibial plate when flexing the knee joint. The tibial plate includes a medial fossa and a lateral fossa, and a spine and a concave sliding surface are formed therebetween. The spine moves within the opening in an antero-posterior direction in response to flexion-extension action of the knee joint, and comes into contact with the sliding portion when flexing. The concave sliding surface forms a posterior surface of the spine, and slidably receives the elliptical spherical portion. A width of the elliptical spherical sliding portion is widened from the opening toward a posterior end.본 발명은 무릎관절의 회선을 굴곡각도에 따라서 제어하고, 동시에 전후방향으로의 높은 안정성을 확보할 수 있는 인공 무릎관절을 제공하는 것이다. 대퇴골 원위단에 고정되는 대퇴골 컴포넌트와, 경골 근위단에 고정되어 대퇴골 컴포넌트를 슬라이딩 운동 가능하게 수용하는 경골 플레이트를 구비한 인공 무릎관절이고, 대퇴골 컴포넌트가 내측돌기와 외측돌기를 가지며, 내측돌기와 외측돌기 사이에는, 개구와 내측돌기와 외측돌기와의 후단을 접속하여 무릎관절 굴곡시에 경골 플레이트에 대하여 슬라이딩 운동하는 타원구 형상의 슬라이딩 운동부가 형성되고, 경골 플레이트가 내측돌기를 수용하는 내측홈과 외측돌기를 수용하는 외측홈을 구비하며, 내측홈과 외측홈 사이에는 무릎과절의 굴곡·신장 동작에 대응하여 개구 안을 전후방향으로 이동하며 무릎관절 굴곡시에 타원구 형상의 슬라이딩 운동부에 접촉하는 스파인과, 스파인의 후면을 구성하며 타원구 형상의 슬라이딩 운동부를 슬라이딩 운동 가능하게 수용하는 오목한 형상의 슬라이딩 운동면이 형성되고, 타원구 형상의 슬라이딩 운동부의 폭이 개구로부터 연속하여 후단을 향하여 넓어지고 있다.
