The present invention relates to an alkoxylated ester amine of formula (I) and a salt thereof. [Chemical 1] The ester amines according to the invention may be used in cleaning compositions such as liquid laundry detergents. The ester amines according to the invention provide improved cleaning performance of the composition, for example when used in cold water cleaning conditions. The ester amines according to the invention surprisingly improve the oil cleaning performance of liquid laundry detergents, especially under cold water cleaning conditions. Whiteness is also improved.
