A drip irrigation head assembly comprises an outer sleeve member and a flow retarding member. The flow retarding member is passed through an entrance of the outer sleeve member to insert in and assemble to the plug connector of the outer sleeve member. The flow retarding member comprises a main body which is formed with a windingly-arranged threaded part and a spiral channel. One end of the main body of the flow retarding member adjacent to the entrance of the outer sleeve member is provided with a plurality of notches which are communicated with the spiral channel. The plug connector of the outer sleeve member can be inserted into a water pipe, so that water in the water pipe can pass through the notches to enter the spiral channel and then flow out of the outer sleeve member for a drip irrigation operation. The notches can be utilized to block impurities from entering the spiral channel and reduce channel blockage. Besides, the spiral channel can be utilized to extend the flow path, thereby slowing down the flow velocity of water. Further, the flow retarding member can be dissembled from or assembled to the outer sleeve member, so that the flow retarding member can be easily dissembled for cleanness.
