A method of producing an image on a display screen comprises the steps ofgenerating at least one wavelength of light in a selected wavelength band ofred light in thewavelength range from about 620nm to about 655nm and/or yellow-green light inthewavelength range from about 530nm to about 580nm, and directing the generatedlight to atarget object containing an accumulation of a fluorescable biomarker, suchthat the generatedlight reaches the fluorescable biomarker and excites the fluorescablebiomarker to therebycause it to emit fluoresced light within a characteristic wavelength band. Thefluoresced lightfrom the fluorescable biomarker is captured. A digital data filerepresentative of the capturedfluoresced light is created. A representative image is formed on a displayscreen from thedigital data file. An apparatus for generating an image on a display screenusing the abovemethod is also disclosed.
