Disclosed herein is a system controller for an ophthalmic lens that includes an electronic system for operating variable focus optics. The system controller is part of the electronic system included in the ophthalmic lens. The electronic system includes one or more batteries or other power supplies, power management circuits, one or more sensors, clock generation circuits, control algorithms and circuits, and lens driver circuits.
