PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire excellent images in an acoustic signal acquiring apparatus that sequentially acquires signals for each element group.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a subject information acquiring apparatus having: receiving means in which plural receiving elements to receive acoustic signals based on acoustic waves transmitted from a subject are disposed on a two-dimensional surface, the plural receiving elements being divided into plural receiving element groups each including at least one receiving element correction means for correcting signals received by the receiving means and processing means for acquiring characteristic information in the subject using the signals corrected by the correction means.
