PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope propelling device simple in mechanism and excellent in operability constituted so as to enable the self-advance of an insertion tube without damaging an intestinal wall.
SOLUTION: A plurality of arm operation holes 2, each of which comprises a long slot, are formed to the endoscope-constituting insertion tube 1 along the axial direction of the insertion tube 1 so as to be spaced apart from each other in the peripheral direction of the insertion tube 1. A tube propelling mechanism 3 is pivotally supported on a substrate 4 on its base end side to be protruded to the outside from the respective arm operation holes 2 and has propelling arms 5 which can fall and bend only rearward. A drive mechanism 7 for driving the substrate 4 in order to advance the tube propelling mechanism 3 with respect to the insertion tube 1 is constituted of the screw shaft 8 threaded with the substrate 4 and a drive motor 10. The propelling arms 5 and the arm operation holes 2 are integrally covered with a cover consisting of a soft material applied to the insertion tube 1.
